Wellness Workshops
Sex and sexuality are still often overlooked or taboo topics in our culture. Yet a healthy relationship with your own sexuality is a vital part of becoming a whole, balanced and happy person. Sex toys can be a part of developing that relationship and can open up avenues for sexual exploration and appreciation. This session will look at how toys can help us learn about, honour and expand ourselves as sexual people. Students will have a chance to handle demo models of toys and to ask questions and learn about how to choose safe quality products.
Confused or worried about clerkship? Get all your questions answered by our panel of clerks! Our expert panel will be sharing tips for success in clerkship, with an overview of the core clerkships including family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, general surgery, psychiatry, and obstetrics/gynecology. This will be an interactive session so come prepared with your questions!
Are you interested in learning more about traditional teachings and how art plays a role in Indigenous health and wellness? Join our medicine box workshop and learn about the natural herbs, remedies, and holistic approaches used in traditional healing. The session will include painting your own medicine box, storytelling, and discussions on the cultural significance of medicine boxes in Indigenous communities.

Take one hour just to breathe, stretch, and destress alongside some chill music and with the guidance of a registered yoga instructor. No experience or equipment required, just bring yourself and some comfortable clothes.
Are you looking to end off the weekend with some thrill? Come for some stress relief at the Canmore Climbing Gym! The gym welcomes everyone, from first time climbers to seasoned pros. Whether you’re looking to have fun, do some training, or just stretch your muscles – this is a great activity to end off the conference! (Part of Sunday Excursion)
Clinical Workshops
Are you dying to know why catheters are needed or how they are inserted? Look no further, here is the right place to have your questions put to rest! In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to learn the indications for catheters, the different types of catheters as well as have hands-on experience practicing catheter insertion on different models.
Want to gain an essential skill before clerkship? Come learn how to suture, both beginner and advanced. Build the foundation to master hand and instrument ties, and you’ll impress on your surgery rotations! Suturing kits will be provided.
Want to gain some high yield clinical skills? In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to learn a variety of OBGYN skills including pap testing, vaginitis swabs, endometrial biopsies and IUD insertions. This will be a very hands-on training session.
An introduction to the basics of airway management. Participants will learn about the anatomy of the airway and get hands on with important airway management skills such as bag-mask ventilation, oral/nasal airway insertion, and intubation.
Interested in dermatology, or leaning how to investigate skin diseases? Come to this interactive session for an overview of biopsy options, followed by instruction on how to remove various skin lesions, and finally a hands-on experience with common biopsy techniques.
Do you know what a code is in the hospital? Do you know how to run through a code? Join our “Code Blue” Scenarios where participants will be running through multiple scenarios of cardio-respiratory arrest. Critical care specialists will be guiding groups through each of the different etiologies of cardiac arrest in a simulation environment, so it's not as overwhelming when one becomes a clerk.
